At the airshow Singapore Airshow opened today, the world premiere of a new version of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ 100) with winglets. The Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCS) brought to the exhibition an experimental SSJ 100LR car with the onboard number 97006. It was in December last year that flight tests of horizontal endings began.
Because of their saber-like shape, these endings were called saberlets. According to the developers, their installation will reduce fuel consumption for the SSJ 100 by at least 3% and simultaneously improve the take-off and landing characteristics of the aircraft. "The introduction of winglets, which is part of the aircraft improvement program, will also provide savings to airlines up to 5 million rubles per year for one SSJ 100," the company's president Alexander Rubtsov said earlier.
The machine improvement program is likely to help it compete better with new regional aircraft entering the market, such as Embraer E-Jets E2 and Bombardier CSeries. As part of this program, The company "Civil aircraft of Sukhoi" (CAS) certified last year additional fuel tanks. This makes it possible to extend the flight range of the business version of SSJ 100 to 7000 km. In addition, the SSJ 100 B100 modification was certified, which is characterized by an increased thrust of SaM146 engines. It can be operated from short runways.
The experienced SSJ 100 is also equipped with the approach mode button on the steep glide path. Recall that this function is developed at the request of the European airline CityJet, which planned to use Russian aircraft for flights from the airport in London City.
According to our data, as of the end of 2017 there were 109 SSJ 100 aircraft in operation. In addition to Russia, these planes are used by air carriers in Europe, as well as in Mexico, Kazakhstan and Thailand. Since the commencement of commercial operation in 2011, this type of aircraft has carried out more than 240 thousand flights with a total duration of over 370 thousand flight hours
