Irkutsk aviation plant received the first engines for installation of Russian medium-haul aircraft MS-21, which has already been dubbed the "Killer of Boeing", RIA Novosti reported, citing information from the press service of the state Corporation rostec. The power units were produced by UEC - Perm motors.
Engines marked PD-14 are fully Russian turbofan engines designed for civil aviation. The thrust of the power unit, made in accordance with all international standards and requirements, is 14 tons.
PD-14s were accepted by specialists at the site of pre-Assembly of propulsion systems. Journalists note that after the entrance control procedure, the first engine will be installed on the aircraft. "The first flight of the MS-21 with new Russian engines as part of flight tests is expected this year, "the Agency quoted an interlocutor from the Rostec press service as saying.
MS-21, as previously reported by Rambler, first took to the air in may 2017. After a successful test, it was decided to mass-produce it. The airliner is a short-and medium-haul aircraft with a capacity of 150 to 211 passengers. | |
